A Seattle, WA police officer on Monday (6/13/10) finds it necessary to:
1. Arrest a woman for jaywalking
2. Punch a 17 year old female in the face for pushing him
You can get the story (video) here: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=6587479n
Don't know the details about the jaywalking. It seems to me that Seattle would have much more important things to deal with (recent officer murders come to mind) and that resources wouldn't be spent for a trivial offense. Maybe the woman wouldn't give her ID so he couldn't ticket her.
The best thing about the punch is that he clearly pauses & thinks about it. Then decides the best course of action is to strike a female after barely being moved by her pushing him. This was not a equal response of force. This guy is clearly a winner.
The main problem is that this officer was not in control of himself & the situation. If he was going to do this it was way to late. He had obviously lost control of the situation prior to the start of the video & if he was going to punch anyone it should have been the woman resisting arrest.
